Africa Health 2015

High quality technologies meet regional needs at Africa Health

Maquet has long been known for its close partnerships with medical professionals to deliver technologies that address real-world clinical challenges. This year, Maquet introduced the new SERVO-air ventilator at Africa Health in Johannesburg, South Africa. The largest healthcare exhibition on the continent, Africa Health brings together more than 7,000 industry professionals and 500 healthcare companies for product showcases and educational opportunities.

Commitment to the African market

Maquet has been increasing its Africa Health presence each year, a reflection of the company’s commitment to this growing market. There is a great deal of activity in new hospital facilities and refurbishment of existing facilities in the southern African nations of South Africa, Mozambique, Zambia, Namibia and Botswana and Zimbabwe.

Addressing real-world challenges

SERVO-airSERVO-air is the product that the African market has been waiting for. In many parts of Africa, there is little or no wall gas supply, limiting options for mechanical ventilation. The new SERVO-air ventilator has a built-in turbine, eliminating the need for compressed air.

The software interface is the same as the SERVO-U, meaning that a hospital or health system can have multiple types of ventilators, but will only need to be trained once.

Maquet SERVO-airThe SERVO-air system brings the respected SERVO technology to resource-limited hospitals and rural medical facilities around the world. “We believe in the development of market-specific products that will really help to push us to the next level,” explains Simon Meredith, Managing Director of Maquet Southern Africa.

An on-site special at the Africa Health booth resulted in sales that exceeded expectations. Customers should be receiving the first units this summer.

Positioned for success
