Mechanical Circulatory Support: What does the heart need and when?

The use of Mechanical Circulatory Support has been rapidly evolving as devices become smaller, more efficient, easier to deploy and less invasive. The spectrum of indications continues to expand and the treatment strategies have become tailored to the individual patient. The purpose of this session is to highlight, and share experiences on the use of MCS from the IABP to ECMO in the treatment of decompensated patients with severe cardiovascular compromise.
